Code of Conduct for Parents of Players

To ensure an optimal play of tennis, the player is expected to exhibit an attitude and behavior that exemplifies camaraderie and good sportsmanship.

At Wychwood Tennis Club, it is not about winning, but rather about ensuring that the player can develop in a non-judgmental and supportive environment. To achieve maximum enjoyment, every player, athlete, and participant must follow these rules tailored from those of Tennis Québec:

  1. Play for fun and remember that playing tennis is not an end, but a means;

  2. Accept and Respect the decisions of coaches, assistants, officials and line judges at all times;

  3. Respect coaches, assistants, officials and opponents; 

  4. Be able to control emotions and impulses in the event of a win or loss;

  5. Demonstrate exemplary conduct on and off the court;

  6. Use language that is free of insult, vulgar expression, and profanity;

  7. Respect coaches, assistants, volunteers and officials and follow their instructions when they are not contrary to his/her well-being;

  8. Respect the playing time on the courts (60 minutes) when there are people waiting;

  9. Engage all one's strength in the game, avoiding discouragement and vanity;

  10. Respect the property of others and refrain from theft or vandalism;

  11. Know that abusive, harassing, neglectful, violent or other inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated, and promptly report to the coach or to a person in authority any such act committed against a person or against him/herself;

  12. Ensure that everyone is treated with respect, equality, and fairness.

A player who fails to comply with the rules above may receive sanctions that will be determined in due time.
